What is demi-fine? We’re glad you asked! While all UJ jewelry is created with high quality materials, our demi-fine pieces take it to the next level with thicker gold plating that’s sterling silver filled. Our line is aimed to bring effortless elegance to your everyday through certified vermeil. Vermeil (pronounced vehr-may) is a type of jewelry made with precious metals aimed to last a lifetime when cared for properly.
In order to be called “vermeil,” the jewelry must meet the following quality conditions:
- Base material is sterling silver (92.5% pure silver + 7.5% other materials)
- Gold plating must be at least 10k (karats)
- Plating is at least 2.5 microns thick (1 micron = 1/1000th of a millimeter)
Quality: Our demi-fine collection is created with 18k gold-plated sterling silver and real, certified diamonds.
- Color: H-G (Near Colorless)
- Clarity: VS (Very Slightly Included)
- Cut: Round
Daily Care: Protect your jewelry and its plating by removing it while swimming, showering, exercising, washing your hands, or applying any products such as perfumes, lotions, or hair products. We pride ourselves on the quality of our product; however, if your jewelry should be exposed to any of the above products, tarnishing may occur. Tarnishing may also be caused by the skin’s natural pH levels.
Cleaning Instructions: Do not use jewelry cleaner on your Uncommon James demi-fine jewelry. To clean, buff gently with a soft, 100% cotton cloth. You can also use your Uncommon James jewelry pouch to softly buff your jewelry.
Storing Instructions: When not in use, store each piece of jewelry in its respective Uncommon James pouch or box. They may also be hung on a jewelry stand or carefully stored within a jewelry organizer.
